This article aimed to present a qualitative technique for developing digital competences. Given these transformations of the 21st century, the use of digital technologies directly impacts the way individuals live, work and learn, and digital skills become essential for individuals to deal with all these changes. The sample researched included 2 focus groups of students who have already completed more than 60% of their Bachelor's degree in Administration at two multi-campus public universities, one in Brazil and the other in Spain. Following a qualitative design and with the rubrics proposed in this research, the results of both focus groups indicated 10 digital competences at the “advanced” level of development and another 2 digital competences at the “good” level of development; highlighting the role of higher education in professional qualification for the job market, with the use of active methodologies and activities mediated by digital technologies in Education 4.0.
