This paper presents a discussion of the institutional legitimacy processes from the practices of news organizations in the hypermedia production context. Reflection is made from the analysis of self-referential strategies in a The Guardian multimedia narrative. It takes place in the society mediatization context, in which the news organizations, as representatives of the journalism institution, often work for legitimacy conquest and maintenance through communicational practices that seek to explain and justify its existence and its ways of doing.
