The main purpose of this text is to demonstrate the fact that social service as a profession has always been connected to organizations or to institutions. The inherent theoretical aspects of the organizational studies are retrieved, presenting some formal/ bureaucratic organizational concepts and others, giving emphasis to the ones regarding the third sector. Hence, reflection and comprehension are available to social service studious, that have been done from the basic concepts of many kinds of organizations, as a growing need of inserting the social service professional in public/private, third sector and non-governmental organizations – NGOs.
