Perceptions of Poverty: the importance of education

The article makes a new analysis of the research carried out by Vox Populi, in 2008, which dealt with the opinion of Brazilians on social inequalities, poverty and governmental social policies. In this new approach, the comparison between dominant and dominated – in different subgroups – about their perceptions of poverty stands out. The data were analyzed in a statistical way and called into question the existence of a distinction between the representation of both defined groups. The result demonstrates that the groups, in fact, are opposed in most of the observations made, especially those with high schooling.
