Fundamentals of institutionalism in the social theory of Thorstein Veblen

The text aims to highlight the central terms present in the work of the American economist-sociologist Thorstein Veblen (1857-1929), pointing to the scope and limits of such explanatory concepts. Terms such as instinct, habits of life na thought, that support his argument and seek to delineate the most appropriate way his theoretical effort, in the attempt to build a model of analysis for understanding the social and economic dynamics of the 2nd Industrial Revolution, as well as counter the neoclassical economics of his time. The general result of his work highlights the multidisciplinary typical of the social sciences, basing the approach would be known as Veblenian institutionalism.Published
