Love, sex and money: a sociological interpretation of the market of sexual services

This article intends to analyses the logical impulse of sexual services’ market, considering as support the theoretical movement usually knowing as “new economic sociology”. The aim is to indicate principles for an understanding of the factors that settle this market through two empirical allusions: the discussion about the Law Project 98/2003, of Deputy Fernando Gabeira’s authorship, which “legalizes” the prostitution; and the speeches concerning to sexual tourism in Brazilian’s Northwest capitals. Our prospect attempted is conduced by an inquiry about the inter-relations between market, morality and cultural repertory.
