Recruitment and political career entrance: legislative candidates in Rio Grande do Sul (1998 – 2006)

This work is the result of a previously made research centered on the general problem of the relations between the social space’s structure and the political space, and its effects to the chances and modalities of entrance in politics.The proposed analysis is centered on the examination of the relationship between social resources, parties and electoral competition´s modality of entrance.The main goal is to apprehend the ways through which oppositions that constitute the electoral competition space are defined. To this end, information collected at TRE-RS were used and confronted to the justification modes when entering the dispute over positions of political representation. The main indications point to an association between social positioning resources, parties and electoral competition´s modalities of entrance.
