Different kinesio taping tensions present similar benefits for postural control, dynamic balance, agility and instability sensation in individuals with chronic ankle instability: randomized clinical trial

Resumen

El esguince de tobillo, una lesión común en individuos físicamente activos, a menudo resulta en una complicación llamada inestabilidad crónica del tobillo (ICT). La Cinta Kinesiológica (KT) puede ser una alternativa de tratamiento para esta condición. El objetivo de este estudio fue comparar dos protocolos de tratamiento con KT en diferentes niveles de tensión en el control postural, equilibrio dinámico, agilidad e inestabilidad en individuos con inestabilidad crónica del tobillo. Se llevó a cabo un ensayo clínico aleatorizado en el que se evaluó el control postural mediante una plataforma de fuerza, la agilidad mediante la Prueba de Salto Lateral, el equilibrio dinámico mediante el Test de Excursión de Estrella modificado, y para evaluar la inestabilidad funcional y autoinformada se utilizaron el Foot and Ankle Outcome Score y el Cumberland Ankle Tool Instability. Se realizó una evaluación inicial, seguida de 5 semanas de intervención con aplicaciones semanales de KT, y una semana después de finalizada la intervención, se realizó una reevaluación. Se distribuyó a 21 participantes en el grupo KT con tensión (KTT: n=11) y en el grupo KT sin tensión (KTWT: n=10). La KT mejora el control postural (velocidad anteroposterior: p=0,006 y mediolateral: p<0,001; frecuencia anteroposterior: p<0,001 y mediolateral: p=0,043 del área del centro de presión), el equilibrio dinámico (p<0,001), la agilidad (p=0,001) y la sensación de inestabilidad en individuos con ICT (p=0,001) en ambos grupos. Solo una variable, la categoría deportiva, del cuestionario FAOS-FOOT presentó un cambio significativo (p=0,008). La KT, con o sin tensión, es capaz de mejorar el control postural, el equilibrio dinámico, el control postural y la sensación de inestabilidad en adultos jóvenes con ICT.
