Militants and Radicals of the Fourth Wave: Feminism in the Digital Age

Abstract

This work explores the experience of becoming a feminist in the digital age. This is done based on two case studies: first, feminist student collectives, where we map the use of technology and representations of feminism, and second, radical feminism in cyberspace, where we delve deeper into the relationship between feminism and technology. Woven between social networks and the streets, becoming a feminist in the digital age mobilizes experiences, recognition and knowledge systems (feminist theory), from where a new feminist epistemology is generated more current, attentive and articulated to the subjects.

Fabiana Jordão Martinez, Universidade Federal de Goiás

Professora Efetiva da cadeira de Antropologia do Departamento de História e Ciências Sociais da Universidade Federal de Goiás - UFG, Regional Catalão. Pesquisadora do Dialogus - Estudos Interdisciplinares em Gênero, Cultura e Trabalho e NIESC (Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Estudos Culturais) ambos da Universidade Federal de Goiás - UFG. Docente da Especialização à Distância em Gênero e Diversidade na Escola - GDE vinculado à Universidade Federal de Goiás - Regional de Catalão. Doutora em Ciências Sociais (Unicamp, 2009), mestra em Antropologia Social (Unicamp, 2003) e bacharel em Ciências Sociais (Unicamp, 1999). Tem experiência na área de Antropologia, Estudos Culturais, Estudos de Gênero, Estudos Feministas, Antropologia do Consumo e da Midia, Antropologia do Corpo e Etnografia dos Saberes, realizando trabalhos com os seguintes temas: modos de subjetivação contemporâneos, método biográfico nas Ciências Sociais, gênero, consumo, mídia, cultura e poder.
