how to observe photographic images in the “post” context

The current context in which we live where photographs circulate in rhizomatic environments such as Instagram requires new strategies for looking at these photographic images. The current conjuncture of the post-photographic shows us that it is often unproductive to observe these images disconnected from their memory and from so many other images that arise as part of their own constitution. Likewise, looking at them disassociated from the environment in which they are engendered also proves to be an unproductive exercise as to the practice of a problematic and deconstructive observation at the plurality of photographic images present in interactive environments such as Instagram. Given this context, in this work we propose a reflection on how to look at contemporary photographic images through the concepts of interface photography and the imaginary web. Thus, it emphasizes a look that not only observes the surfaces of these images, but also considers their surroundings that integrate with them, helping to unearth other memory images within them. Likewise, it reflects on the role of the medium (Instagram) as a device that conditions and assists in the management of the memorial relations established by these images.
