Through the performance of a critical translation, we will inquire into the aesthetic nature of the theatrical text Parole of Remo Chiti. We will question how the text presents the characteristics inherent to the aesthetics of the Italian futurist movement, more specifically of the futurist synthetic theater, to which it is not only bound, but is presented as an example of its aesthetic expression in the Italian magazine Sipario in the double volume dedicated to futurist movement. The source text, Parole, is presented in Italian and will be translated into Brazilian Portuguese. Since translation is a delicate and complex task, we will mainly use the theories of translation of theatrical texts presented by Patrice Pavis (2008) and Susan Bassnett (2003). We will reflect on the main statements contained in the following Futurist “manifesti”: The Futurist Synthetic Theater (1915) and The Futurist Playwriters Manifesto (1911).References
