Resumen

Introduction to Healthcare for Spanish-speaking Interpreters and Translators is a guide for potential interpreters and translators working in the healthcare field.  This book could be used by those who have had little formal teaching about the healthcare setting, or as a model for healthcare trainers to teach programs benefiting translators in this field.  The book is sectioned into 3 parts and subsequently subdivided into 28 chapters.  Part I offers an introduction to healthcare interpreting.  Part II provides a description of possible healthcare settings.  Part III proposes a head to foot systematic overview of the various diseases and treatments that are prone to each body part.  The language of this guide is plain and straightforward, providing summaries of key words and elements at the end of each chapter.
