Abstract

From the actions of solidarity of the Casa do Congresso do Povo in the neighborhood of Levada, Maceió-AL, I became interested in the ways of experiencing the childhood of children of the community. The neighborhood, located between the channels of Lagoa Mundaú and the historical center of the capital Alagoas, has one of the lowest human development indexes in the state and is marked by processes of infrastructural degradation and zoning of moral disfavor. The spread of the virus has intensified situations of daily vulnerability of this population such as unemployment, hunger and the paralysis of public schools. The children have remained more in the space of the house and the street. The shared reports and records are the fruit of this immersion where I have sought to find the children who populate this neighborhood and observed how their childhoods have been produced and reinvented in the context of the crisis we are experiencing. So this essay aims to portray the experience of children living in a "peripheral neighborhood" during the period of the covid-19 pandemic.
