This article intends to analyze the strategic changes in a governmental research institute, of the mineral sector. As a case study, the history of the organization was revealed through two differents perspectives: evolutionist theory and strategic choice. The results showed that the strategy adaptation was influenced by external pressions, specially from the politic, economic and technological areas.Downloads
