Abstract

The objective of this research consists in verifying the way that the attitudes theory, of social psycology, complements the organizational culture theory to explain the resistance to technological changes. For that purpose, it was used an organizational climate research, donein a state company of the south of Brazil, constituting a case study. The bibliographical review includes the change, the technology, the theory of attitudes and the organizational culture. This review is used to describe the way that technological changes resistances, in the refered organization, can be explained by both theories. The analysis resulted in the discovery that both theories complement each other, and no one is able to explain such resistance alone. Among the factors that caused resistance, stood out the lack of credibility in the board of directors, the existence of communication problems in the company, the lack of commitment, and the existence of conflicts.
