Fabiana Vanessa Achy Almeida, UFSC

Fabiana Vanessa Achy de Almeida  is currently  a Phd candidate in applied  linguistics  at  the English  language and  literature by Programa de Pós-Graduação em  letras/inglês from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), institution from which she also holds her Master’s degree. She has taught English as a Foreign language at all levels for more than twenty years, and it was her experience in the classroom that led her back to research.  her interest in research concerns foreign language teaching and learning, focusing on reading, as well as the implementation of the reading process in the brain.

Claudia Marchese Winfield, UFSC

Claudia M. Winfield is currently a doctoral candidate at the Graduate Program in English and  applied  linguistics at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. She holds a Master’s degree in English language and literature (UFSC) and a diploma in translation from the  institute of  linguists  iol – UK). her professional experience includes teaching English as a Foreign language at language schools and regular schools in  brazil, as well as teaching Portuguese as a Foreign language for the GCSE exam (Kingsway College, london, UK).  additionally, she has experience in translation, revision, proofreading, and consecutive interpreting for the private sector. her main research interests are cognitive aspects of reading and translation, with a focus on inferential processes.
