Reexaminando o sotaque em L2: quanto pode ser explicado pela personalidade?

Estudos anteriores mostraram que as diferenças individuais dos alunos (por exemplo, motivação, idade) podem afetar a pronunciação dos alunos da segunda língua. Este estudo centrou-se em uma diferença individual que recebeu relativamente pouca atenção, ou seja, a personalidade, e procurou determinar até que ponto a personalidade explica o sotaque na L2 dos aprendentes durante a fala quasi-oral e não planejada. Cinquenta e um estudantes de língua inglesa de espanhol realizaram uma tarefa de fala que foi pontuada pelo grau de acentuação na língua estrangeira. Os resultados revelaram que a personalidade explicou uma parte considerável da variância, e essa extraversão e neuroticismo foram preditores significativos do sotaque em língua estrangeira.
