Resumo

À luz da imagem associada ao Waiting for Godot de Samuel Beckett, em set designs, cartazes e capas de livros, o presente artigo examina as ilustrações de Tom Phillips para a edição Folio Society de Waiting for Godot (2000). Considerando que as imagens de Phillips incorporam um estilo particular em forma e estrutura, funcionando como elementos pictóricos que relembram contextos, imagens e relações, propomos que o artista preveja seu trabalho na premissa de que os leitores terão contato prévio com a peça em performance ou como um texto.
