Terminological analysis of the culture of Pará, Brazil, in the song lyrics of “Voando pro Pará”

Objective: To examine the terminological units present in the song “Voando pro Pará”, identifying how these lexical items represent concepts linked to culture of Pará, Brazil, and structure a specific cultural domain. The study considered that musical productions can function as cultural documents capable of condensing practices, objects, and identity references, thus constituting legitimate sources for investigations in Knowledge Organization (KO) and Terminology.
Methods: The methodological approach adopted a qualitative, descriptive-analytical design, grounded in Dahlberg’s contributions to KO and in the Communicative Theory of Terminology (CTT), as formulated by Cabré. The corpus consisted of the complete lyrics of the song, treated as an informational document. The analytical steps included: transcription and textual normalization; identification of denominative-conceptual units; conceptual modeling based on terminological frames; and analysis of hierarchical, associative, and functional relations.
Results: The findings indicated the existence of a partial terminological system composed of nine units — tacacá, pupunha com café, açaí, Ver-o-Peso, Estação das Docas, Mangal das Garças, Forte do Presépio, point do açaí, and Re-Pa. These units configure three structuring subdomains: Amazonian cuisine, urban reference spaces, and sociability/leisure. The terms exhibited denominative stability, conceptual relevance, and the capacity to organize socially recognized meanings, forming a coherent set of cultural knowledge representation.
Conclusions: It is concluded that the analyzed song operates as a knowledge document, enabling the explicit representation of conceptual structures that describe the culture of Pará. The integration between KO and CTT proved effective in revealing the internal logic of the domain and expanding the applicability of terminological analysis in sociocultural contexts.
