EDITORIAL A Ciência da Informação e o fazer profissional vêm passando por transformações intensas. Tais transformações se refletem em mudanças no seu enfoque teórico e na atuação de seus profissionais. Encontros Bibli, nesta edição, com os artigos de colegas da Universidade Estadual de Londrina-UEL e da Universidade Federal da Paraíba-UFPb, traz uma contribuição para o debate deste novo momento da Ciência da Informação. Marta Ligia Pomim Valentim, professora da UEL, tece considerações sobre as mudanças de paradigmas do profissional da informação e as novas habilidades necessárias a sua atuação no mercado de trabalho. Eliany Alvarenga de Araújo, professora da UFPb, chama a atenção para as modificações no campo da Ciência da Informação fazendo uma leitura sócio-cultural de suas práticas. Ainda nesta edição, Francisco das Chagas de Souza aborda a educação bibliotecária catarinense no período de 1973 a 1993. Este número traz, além disso, as recomendações do XI Seminário de Bibliotecas Universitárias - SNBU 2000 - realizado em Florianópolis no mês de abril, bem como, os discursos de abertura do seminário pronunciados pelo Magnífico Reitor da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina - UFSC, Prof. Rodolfo Pinto da Luz, e pela Presidente do Evento, Bibliotecária Sigrid Karin Weiss Dutra.
