The contamination by fungus of the manguinhos library bibliographic collection, at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation – actions developed for solution

At the end of December 1996 the bibliographic collection of FIOCRUZ Manguinhos Library, then compound by approximately 620,000 volumes, was strongly attacked by fungus and had to be closed during five months. Several professionals put in motion to solve this problem and reported their experience. This paper joins those reports including three different approaches of the problem: building facilities aspects, bibliographic colletion conservation and people – library patrons and employees – health care.Downloads
