Abstract

This article aims to present a discussion related to identity issues present in Information Science disciplines. This is done considering interdisciplinarity that has been present since the creation of the discipline itself. Information is an object of study of this discipline and thus it is considered as a factor that contributes to some setbacks that prevent further recognition in relation to other disciplines, as well as society as a whole. The research also deals with Information Science institutionalization, emphasizing its requirements for the achievement of a scientific status of the discipline.
