Abstract

Objective: Analyze health misinformation checked by the fact-checking platform Agência Lupa, in order to understand how health misinformation was shared on digital platforms in the first months after the COVID-19 pandemic, and what were its main causes. trends in Brazil.

Methods: A qualitative-quantitative approach is adopted in the process of extracting, interpreting and visualizing the checked contents, through the technique of data scraping and analysis of digital texts.

Results: It appears that disinformative content that imitates reliable sources based on images and videos, circulated on the WhatsApp platform, spread across multiple channels, dispersing misinformation about health. Furthermore, there are patterns of persistence and constancy regarding the term Vaccine, indicating it as the scope of a continuous narrative of disinformation.

Conclusions: It is concluded that the aspects of misinformation practices highlighted by the adopted method can support strategies to combat health misinformation in Brazil.
