Democracy and work: a relationship of interdependence

Democratic theories should take economic aspects into account in their theoretical framework, particularly work relations? This text aims to address the above question by demonstrating the interdependent relationship between work and democracy. First, I argue that minimalist or institutional theories are insufficient to capture the grievances that individuals express about democracy. Next, I show how work and democratic participation are interconnected. I conclude with some normative guidelines and potential future developments for research.
