Abstract

The article aims to examine the conception of liberty as the absence of domination, presented by Philip Pettit as coming from the republican thought and as an alternative to the dominant opposition in the contemporary political debate between negative liberty and positive liberty. It intends to discuss if it corresponds to the conception of liberty that can be found in republicanism and if it can be considered an alternative to the opposition between negative liberty and positive liberty.
