Writing at the first learning cycle: a reflex of teaching training programs?

The need to improve Portuguese teaching in elementary school is well documented in all international projects where Portugal took part, as well as in national studies and annual reports from the Benchmarking Tests. The quality in teaching is strictly related to the quality in learning. In this manner, initial and continuous training of teachers play an important role to prepare teachers for teaching. The major objective of this study is to understand in which way initial and continuous training of teachers can influence the writing production of elementary school students.
