This paper presents a discussion about sociolinguistic aspects of the Brazilian-Uruguayan border aiming at reflecting on the needs for a specific PLE teaching approach to adult Uruguayan learners. If bilingual teaching contexts differ from monolingual ones and approaches to teach PLE for speakers of other languages than Spanish differ from those for DPU speakers, then sociolinguistics characteristics of border regions should be taken into account in developing a specific syllabus.Downloads
