This article presents the results of a study that aimed to understand how the ‘like factor’ in fantastic short stories can trigger the interest of students for written production. This study followed the action research design and was conducted with 27 students of the 7th grade of Elementary School II in a municipal school of the city of Buerarema-BA, Brazil. The data were collected through the application of five tools: observation of the participant, interview, field diary, didactic sequences (which were an intervention project), and the evaluative questionnaire. The theoretical input uses the concept of ‘like factor’, as well as studies on the teaching of text production, literature in the classroom, and fantastic literature. The results support the hypothesis that the students feel more interested in producing the genre with which they identify the most, which relates to the concept of like factor applied to spaces for teaching and learning.
