Abstract

The new National Curriculum Guidelines (DCN) for the undergraduate Management course brought new directions regarding the development of competences by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), aligning the profile of graduates based on market expectations. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the curricula of the Administration course of Brazilian Federal Universities (UF) with a concept of excellence (ENADE 2018) regarding their concern with the development of soft skills of their students. Methodologically, we opted for a qualitative, exploratory research with data collection from the electronic addresses of the FU. As a result, of the thirty-one FUs studied, only two developed the six soft skills analyzed in this study. It is concluded that the FUs have a long way to go in the development of such skills, especially with regard to emotional intelligence and flexibility. In time, it is also concluded that the new DCN bring important directions for the HEIs, and that, for that, a curricular reassessment may be necessary, in search of an alignment between the hard and soft skills of the graduates, making them more competitive to the market.
