Abstract

However, the strengthening of the environmental debate, political, social and economic pressures are triggering a change in the corporate environmental conduct. In this context, the environmental law emerged as a strong allied to the achievement of a new corporate environmental conduct through its initial role as a regulator until its role as an instrument in the process of the environmental management of the company. Thus, this article aims to think about the importance of environmental legislation for the evolution of the environmental variable insertion in the strategies of the organizations, emphasizing the legal compliance as a basic prerequisite to be gotten by companies, regardless of the type of strategies that they use on the way for the search of an effective environmental management.
