Abstract

The couple as an initiatic space. The problems in a couple’s life are related to difficulties in keeping the autonomy in the sphere of intimate relationships between two people who live closely. It is the learning of managing a moderate relational distance, which permits the development of its relational competencies, always preserving the autonomy, though. Deep inside, the spouses frequently expect more from their partners or from this abstract entity that the relationship is that calms down their anguish. Only when they recover the capacity to find peace before one another, will it be possible to occur a follow-up in the process of differentiation. Then, the couple’s privacy will be revealed as a long-term initiative space.
