Abstract

The article intends to argue the relation between culture and market, focusing the publishing production directed to mass literature. When we think of sales, inevitably we raise the issue of best-sellers, the so called books champions in sales. In this sense, we analyze the historical facts on how capitalism influences culture, going through a study of the phenomenon of best-sellers, determining in what ways the commercial concern, conducting the production and distribution of books, ends up establishing a new criterion, in which the amount supplants the quality.
