The contribution of community radio stations to strengthening freedom of expression in local communities

Abstract

This article seeks to understand how community radio stations contribute to the promotion of freedom of expression in Mozambique, highlighting their importance in strengthening participation and democratizing information in local communities. This is a literature review study developed based on the analysis of relevant scientific articles, with the purpose of achieving a more comprehensive understanding of the topic under study. The results show that community radio stations are contributing greatly to the promotion of freedom of expression in Mozambique and to the defense of citizens' fundamental rights and freedoms. However, the work also points out that community radio stations continue to face persecution and limitations that inhibit their action. The study concludes that community radio stations are catalysts for community engagement and play a vital role in promoting an environment of public debate and transparency in public management, thus contributing to local development and the reduction of corruption and impunity.
