The algorithms are present in various economic activities, especially in the area of media. In Brazil, however, there are few studies that address this issue. This work evaluates the scenario and the possibilities of algorithms use in the mass communication media. Exploratory and descriptive research was held in which managers of the largest communications firms in Brazil were interviewed at the national and regional levels. Among the results achieved disbelief and skepticism regarding the algorithms stand out, combined with the limited possibility of adoption of this technology in the short and medium run, notably for the news production.
