A journalist against antisemitism: Otto Maria Carpeaux in the Austrian press in the 1930s

The article studies the texts on the Jewish question published by the Austrian-Brazilian journalist and essayist Otto Maria Carpeaux (1900-1978), between 1934 and 1938, in the magazines Die Erfüllung and Der Christliche Ständestaat, from Vienna. The research question is articulated based on the understanding of the political and ideological meaning of Otto Maria Carpeaux's journalistic interventions in the Austrian press, given his engagement in the struggle for Austria's independence from Germany. The Carpeaux articles are studied based on a methodological procedure that articulates the political and sociocultural environment of Austria and Germany during the 1930s, marked by the rise of National Socialism and anti-Semitism, with the textual elements present in the selected articles.
