Resistance training (RT) has become increasingly popular in recent decades, playing an important role in reducing the risk of musculoskeletal injuries related to muscle imbalance, which is expressed as a relationship between agonist and antagonist muscles, such as knee flexors and extensors. However, if not performed correctly, resistance training can increase the risk of injury. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence, incidence, and injury incidence rate in resistance training practitioners. A 6-month prospective cohort study, developed from February 2018 to August 2018 via a questionnaire. A prevalence of 59.6% of injuries among participants was observed, with an incidence of 25% during the 6-month follow-up, resulting in an incidence rate of 0.24 every six months or 1.07 every 500 training hours. The present study made it possible to identify the values of prevalence, incidence and the incidence rate, which are high, as they are similar compared to Olympic weightlifting athletes.
