Law and barbarism in the conquest of the Native America

The paper analyzes some aspects of America Spaniard’s conquest, particularly, the massacre of the Indians, the Dominican friar Bartolomé de Las Casas’ political contest, the dissension about fair war, and the legislation promulgated that period, sometimes protecting the natives, other times sealing the conquerors’ oppression. It is also analyzed, along the text, nowadays importance of the subjects involved in the conquest.Downloads
