Abstract

This article presents the guidelines of the thought of the Italian lawyer Santi Romano on the international law, and its impact on the European legal culture. In particular, it analyses the assumptions of the theory of the legal system of international law developed by Romano and his disciples during the second Post-war in Italy.

Piero Ziccardi

Piero Ziccardi (Arezzo, 1913) é professor emérito de Direito Internacional da Universidade Estatal de Milão, na Itália e sócio-emérito do Instituto de Direito Internacional. Lutou na resistência italiana durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, liderando as forças da O.S.S. (Office Off Strategic Service), ligadas à Quinta Armada dos Estados Unidos. Em 1944 foi preso e enviado para a deportação na Alemanha, conseguindo ser libertado poucos meses após a prisão, ainda na Itália.
