Abstract

In this text, we hope to reflect on other possibilities to think about translating, based on the idea of interaction (developed by the writer and thinker Zamenga B.), in the light of certain black African cosmologies, markedly, Bantu. Power vectors of African thinking — some
fundamental ones brought to light in contemporaneity by Bunseki Fu-Kiau — support an analysis of translation action, which, necessarily, in this context, does not adhere to the dimension best known as interlinguistic. It is an ontological dimension of translating always in motion. Thus, such action, when representing a relevant event of Bantu-African interaction, generally figures the transmutation of a state-form of being into another state-form of being.

Pós-doutorando no Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros/USP, doutor em Letras pelo Programa de Estudos da Tradução do Departamento de Letras Modernas da mesma universidade (USP) e bacharel em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA). Suas pesquisas voltam-se, principalmente, para as línguas, linguagens e cosmologias africanas, com ênfase nas línguas-cultura bantu - destaque-se a civilização dos bakongo -, estabelecendo-se os cruzamentos entre tais chaves de pensamento e aquelas provenientes de outras experiências culturais de existência não ocidentais e ocidentais. É tradutor e tem experiência na área de Artes, notadamente, composição e performance musicais, Literatura e Curadoria Artística. No âmbito dos Estudos da Tradução, direciona-se à investigação intersemiótica, sobretudo, no que tange a distintas linguagens artísticas e a distintas cosmovisões, tendo como base constante referenciais teóricos afrocentrados em diálogo com outros modos, paradigmas e correntes de pensamento e expressão, tais como alguns ameríndios. Possui pesquisas em torno de pensadores africanos como Bunseki Fu-Kiau, Zamenga B. e Sophie Oluwole. Foi o primeiro compositor da história fonográfica brasileira a apresentar, como compositor (e intérprete), um álbum musical com obras em línguas africanas.
