This article investigates motherhood through the theatrical performance Cheia Crescente, articulating gestational experience, artistic creation, and feminist theoretical reflection. Created and performed during a pregnancy, the performance serves as a starting point for considering maternal experience as a site of knowledge production. In dialogue with authors such as Silvia Federici, Vera Iaconelli, Julia Kristeva, Rita Segato, and Iris Young, it problematizes the naturalization of maternal instinct, the romanticization of sacrifice, and the invisibilization of reproductive labor. Drawing on the dramaturgy, images and scenes from the performance, the article discusses pregnancy as an embodied, ambivalent, and politically regulated experience, as well as the inequalities that shape the social organization of care. By integrating art, body, and thought, the text proposes motherhood as a field of symbolic, political, and existential dispute.
