The field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the landscape of linguistics, literature, and translation. AI-powered tools are being used to analyze language in new and innovative ways, generate creative text formats, and translate languages with increasing accuracy and fluency. This thematic issue of Ilha do Desterro seeks to explore the intersection of AI, linguistics, literature, and translation, providing a space for scholars and practitioners to share their insights and research on this evolving field.
Aims and Objectives
This special issue aims to:
- Investigate the theoretical and practical applications of AI in linguistics, literature, and translation;
- Provide a forum for scholars and practitioners to discuss their findings, methodologies, and best practices;
- Promote the development of AI-driven tools and methodologies for research and professional practice in these fields;
- Foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers and professionals working with AI in linguistics, literature, and translation.
Scope
We invite submissions on a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to):
- Machine learning for linguistics, literature, and translation;
- Natural language processing (NLP) applications in linguistics, literature, and translation;
- AI-powered text generation and translation;
- AI-driven language analysis and interpretation;
- AI-assisted language learning and teaching;
- AI and the history of linguistics, literature, and translation;
- AI and the future of linguistics, literature, and translation;
- Ethical considerations of AI in these fields.
Submission Guidelines
- Languages accepted: English and Portuguese
- Manuscript length: 6,000 – 8,500 words, including references.
- Formatting: Follow the journal’s author guidelines available on the Ilha do Desterro website.
- Submission platform: All manuscripts must be submitted through the Open Journal System (OJS): Ilha do Desterro Submission Portal.

- Manuscript submission deadline: May 15, 2026
- Peer review process: June - Setembro 2026
