Preface

Abstract

This open issue of Ilha do Desterro covers different areas of study such as Comparative Literature, Film Analysis and Theory, Theatre and Performance Theory, Literary Analysis and Literary Theory, and Translations Studies. These articles reflect the broadening and the transdisciplinarity of recent studies in the Humanities. The article by Tania Franco Carvalhal, on the interaction among different registers and the construction of the imaginary, not only discusses key theoretical concepts such as representation and reality but also establishes how different languages within various disciplines help to construct our perceptions of the real.
