Mary Louise Pratt, New York University

Mary Louise Pratt is Silver Professor in Latin American Studies and Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University. She holds degrees in Comparative Literature from the University of Toronto and Stanford University. Her books include Toward a Speech Act Theory of Literary Discourse (1980), and Imperial Eyes: Travel Writing and Transculturation (1992, 2nd ed. 2007), and the co-autored volume Women, Culture and Politics in Latin America.
