Metropolis as space of exile: Dispersation and trauma in the urban experience

The novels Um táxi para Viena d´Áustria (Antonio Torres) e As cinco estações do amor (João Almino) stage the urban experience as exile. This exile can be due to geographical distance (as it happens to the migrational processes typical of the greater urban centers), to economic circumstances (linked to social exclusion) or to psychological crackdown. All those urban experiences reflect the suspension of speech and of life jouissance, both provoked by a traumatic contact with reality.Downloads
