Resumo

Este artigo fornece textos e contextos comparativos entre Brasil e Canadá no mundo atlântico, não apenas uma comparação interamericana, mas uma comparação transatlântica e global.
tipologia. Centra-se na tradução do império através da tradução, particularmente de parte das narrativas de Jacques Cartier sobre o Canadá por John Florio em 1580 e do relato de viagem ao Brasil de Jean de Léry na coleção de Samuel Purchas em 1625. o serviço de contato, exploração, encontro e possível posse e assentamento. O espanhol, por meio de Colombo, e o português e o francês fazem parte dessa literatura comparada e desses textos culturais, que são intertextuais e tradutórios, entre si e com a cultura e a literatura inglesas. O encontro entre povos indígenas e europeus no Novo Mundo, no Brasil e no Canadá é central para mudar a literatura e as culturas das Américas, da Europa, da África e do mundo como se vê nos textos aqui analisados. A construção de relatos de viagens, literatura e império ingleses também é, em um grau importante, intertextual, intercultural e translacional.
