Ritual as Indicative as of code as Values
Abstract
Undoubtedly, the ritualistic connotation of Hemingway's work, and particularly of his short stories in IN OUR TIME, is very strong and worth analysing. Hemingway has even been criticized for his use of an unvarying code, his action almost always circling about ordeals, with triumphs and defeats in the bullring, the battlefield, the trout stream or other male proving grounds, where great value is placed on raw physical courage.Downloads
