Kövecses, Zoltán. Metaphor in culture: universality and variation
Abstract
Zoltán Kövecses is Professor of Linguistics in the Department of American Studies, Eötvös Loránd University. He is also the author of Language, Mind and Culture: A practical introduction (2006), Metaphor and Emotion (2002) and Metaphor: A Practical Introduction (2000). The author’s major goal in this work is to develop a theory of metaphor variation, based on the cognitive linguistic view of metaphor. According to Kövecses, cognitive linguists who share the contemporary view of metaphor have carried out important studies concerning the universal aspects of metaphor
