Elipse de sujeito na língua infantil

Resumo

Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir se análises paramétricas podem dar conta da omissão de sujeitos em inglês infantil. Neste artigo, discuto algumas análises paramétricas do fenômeno da omissão de sujeitos presentes na literatura e apresento um novo modelo de aprendizagem construído com base em uma versão mais recente do Parâmetro do Sujeito Nulo (Holmberg, 2010a). Análises paramétricas dos sujeitos nulos em inglês infantil têm a vantagem de dar uma resposta simples ao motivo pelo qual as crianças omitem sujeitos e como elas alcançam uma gramática adulta: o problema é reduzido a uma questão de marcação inicial incorreta de parâmetros e uma posterior remarcação. No entanto, as primeiras análises paramétricas de sujeitos nulos infantis (Hyams, 1986, 1991) foram desafiadas por resultados empíricos (Valian, 1991; Wang et al., 1992). O padrão da omissão de sujeitos no inglês infantil também não pode ser explicado pelo modelo paramétrico de aprendizagem proposto neste artigo. Concluo que a omissão de sujeitos em inglês infantil é melhor analizada como elipse de sujeito ('diary drop'), uma opção disponível para falantes adultos de inglês.
E o artigo "A reticência repara violações de restrição de movimento da cabeça?" deve se chamar "Elipse salva violações de restrição de movimento de núcleo?".
