Language and ideology: a case study of 'sesame street'
Abstract
Language has a crucial role in the ideological process. It is the linking element between individuals' knowledge of the world and their social practices, since it mediates individuals' hought and behaviour. I intend in this paper to demonstrate how language reflects ideology and can thus be used not only as a means of communication, but also as an instrument of power and control.Downloads
