Alfabetização informacional para cidadãos digitais: examinando o papel das bibliotecas comunitárias na redução da desinformação

Resumo

Objetivo: Este estudo investigou o potencial das bibliotecas comunitárias em Sumatra Ocidental, Indonésia, para promover a alfabetização informacional (AI) e combater a desinformação.

Método: O estudo utilizou uma metodologia mista. Por meio de entrevistas em profundidade, grupos focais, uma pesquisa com usuários (N=147) e uma oficina participativa, a pesquisa explorou os papéis atuais das bibliotecas, avaliou os níveis de alfabetização dos usuários e desenvolveu em conjunto uma estrutura de intervenção.

Resultados: Os resultados revelaram que as bibliotecas são centros comunitários confiáveis, mas percebem um papel limitado na alfabetização digital, restringido por deficiências de habilidades internas e ansiedades externas sobre comprometer sua valorizada neutralidade. Os usuários demonstraram uma autoeficácia moderada, pouco calibrada em relação ao seu desempenho real em tarefas de discernimento de desinformação, dependendo fortemente de heurísticas de verificação social em vez de analítica. A estrutura "Âncora Comunitária", desenvolvida em conjunto, propõe uma reformulação do papel do bibliotecário, de provedor de conteúdo para facilitador, conectando recursos comunitários e facilitando o diálogo crítico de baixa tecnologia.

Conclusão: Pode-se concluir que alavancar a confiança social existente exige navegar pela tensão entre a práxis ativista da alfabetização informacional crítica (AIC) e a expectativa da comunidade de neutralidade política. Este estudo oferece um modelo inovador, baseado em ativos, para capacitar instituições de base como agentes de linha de frente da resiliência epistêmica.
